GDPR Policy and Privacy Statement for Chesters Bridge Bed and Breakfast
We need to hold some data about our guests as part of our booking process and to comply with legislative requirements. We have a legal duty of care to protect the information we hold about our guests.
We are a small business and so we have taken what we think is a proportionate approach to GDPR requirements. This is our first policy and privacy statement and we would welcome any comments you may have by email.
We will review this document if there are any changes in our circumstances or where we have made an error or omission which needs to be corrected and/or updated.
Holding data and your rights.
We will hold data about guests only for so long as is necessary to comply with legislative requirements.
You have the right to request a copy of the information we hold about you, if you would like this information please email us.
You can also request for data held to be deleted. We confirm requests will be completed within 1 month, this will be free of charge.
Distribution lists/sharing your data
We won’t add your email address to any distribution list or send marketing emails without your explicit consent. We currently have no intention of using distribution lists or sending marketing emails.
We will not share your data with any third party unless there is a legal requirement to do so.

This Privacy Notice explains how we use any personal information we collect about you.
What information we collect about you
When you make a booking with us we collect the names of all the guests who will be staying, email address and telephone number of the person making the booking. We don’t have debit or credit card facilities so this simplifies data we need.
How we use the information we hold on you
We will use your email address to send you confirmation of your booking and details on how to find us and other information you may find useful for your stay.
Following your stay, we may send you an email eg thanking you for your stay, asking for feedback, or regarding lost property etc.
We will not use your telephone number to contact you unless it is to confirm a booking, or for an emergency and/or we have been unable to contact you by email.
We are required by law to collect the following information on all our guests.
We do this by asking you to complete a registration form on arrival where you have not already provided this information previously in email communications.
For commonwealth guests;
- Name and nationality
For non-commonwealth guests;
- Name, nationality, passport number, address of next destination
We will keep these forms safely in a locked filing cabinet. We are required to keep these registration forms for a year and show them to a police officer if they request to see them. We will destroy these forms 12 months after your stay.
How is guests’ data stored?
All personal data is password protected on electronic devices, never on a data stick. We will only share your information with a third party if there is a legal reason for doing so.
We understand that we don’t need consent to contact people on social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc because the user has already accepted the terms and conditions of the platform. What we can’t do is connect with guests on social media and then use their email address for marketing and distribution lists without their explicit consent. (As above, we have no intention of using data in this way.
Do we use Surveillance equipment?
No and have no intention of doing so.
